Flamenco is – to some extent – familiar to millions of people around the world, but that’s not why we chose to base our Spanish Band on this exuberant dance form. Flamenco, as it’s known today, dates back to the late 18^th Century, but its roots stretch back much further, and illustrate Spain’s legacy as a cultural melting pot.

Romani, Gitano and Hispano-Arabic dancing styles all combined to create the famously expressive and emotive school of dance that’s so widely adored today. From its Andalusian birthplace, Flamenco has spread around the world, and in 2010 it was lauded by UNESCO as a “Masterpiece of the Oral Heritage of Humanity”.
